Clicking in the drivers footwell area

Hi all, I had my car in service the other week also for looking at the clicking noise in the drivers footwell while driving. The dealer has explained this as a camera heating for the ADAS system but I am not convinced. Is there anyone also experiencing this?

Hello, yes I have exactly the same click. I never thought anything of it. I always thought it might be from the ACC and brake preload.

Is the click there everytime or happen randomly?
I had a wired click noise heard quite often and very frequent. But then suddenly not for days/weeks but then it came back again some point.

Often this scratch click sound had been noticed when starting to move the vehicle or at slow speeds/bends.
Its even much louder when the window is open and sounded like metal on metal.


Just recently it came to my mind that I have seen stones inside the tyres. I think that some of those scratch on the street at certain speed or when they are forced to go out of the tyre... No idea if that might be similar.

But the location sounds like same thing what I experience. I often tried to hear it at my seating area but could not really notice where exactly it came from.

The clicking is at random indeed. And to much of a specific rithm for it to have to do something with road debris or stones. It happens at random on highway cruising and N road cruising. Without ACC or just driving around town or making bends I do not notice this.

@tobimbas Your reaction might be valid. Since it is also not weather related.
But a confirmation of someone knowledgeable with the matter would be very nice.

I have this clicking sound in my car too. I have no idea why and when these sounds are occuring, but I'm not worry about these sounds. I would say this is not a problem at all and I never tried to check the source of this sounds. So YES, I have these sounds too, but NO, I have no idea where they come from. But I think thses sounds are not an issue.

After I read your post I payed attention if I can hear som e clicking sounds in my car.
I'm afraid I can't.

I will be at my garage for the service in two weeks. Maybe I should complain and ask my agent for installig the missing clicking sound in my car... .

The sound I had heared is not their anymore either.
But the road construction at my workplace is over (no pavel roads anymore) and therefor not so many stones which could get into my tyres on my usual driveways .
