Study Results: The AAA study was conducted by running tests on a 2014 Ford Focus, 2013 Nissan Leaf, and a 212 Mitsubishi i-MiEV. In a climate-controlled room, these cars were run from full capacity to a completely depleted battery using a city-traffic driving format. The results clearly show that extreme weather and external temperatures affect the range of an electric car detrimentally. Control figures: EV battery range was ideal when the temperature was recorded at a regular 75° Fahrenheit (24°C).
Cold weather: In extreme cold weather temperatures of 20° F, it was observed that the EV battery range dropped by a stunning 57%. The combined average range recorded was just 43 miles. (20°F entspr. -7°C)
Hot weather: In extreme hot weather temperatures of 95° F, it was observed that the EV battery range dropped by 33%. The combined average range recorded was 69 miles for a fully charged EV. (95°F entspr. 35°C)

Golf VII 4T TSI DSG .. 125 PS .. 1290 kg .... 9,1 Sek .. 204 km/h .. 25.550 € .. 6,2 l/100km
Prius Plug-In Life ..... 136 PS .. 1435 kg .. 10,7 Sek .. 180 km/h .. 36.200 € .. 3,6 l/3,74kWh 100km
Betriebskosten-Vergleich je 100 km: 7,80€ vs 5,70€
10.650€ Diff x 2,10€/100km -> 507.000 km bis Gleichstand, weiter als der Mond 385.000 km.
Umwelt-Vergleich: Golf 100.000 km --> 8,7 tCO2 aus Produktion, 14,45 tCO2 aus Betrieb
Umwelt-Vergleich: Prius 100.000 km -> 11,1 tCO2 aus Produktion, 8,4 tCO2 aus Benzin-Betrieb, 2,24 tCO2 aus kWh
Golf 23,15 tCO2 - Prius 21,74 tCO2
1 Liter Benzin 2,33 kg CO2
1 kWh D-Strommix 0,6 kg CO2
