Re: Hacking into Zoe's CANbus
01.11.2015 09:14Have you considered to publish your apk's also on F-Droid?
https://f-droid.org/
Many of the open source "big players" are published there. I.e. the owncloud client or the Afwall firewall for Android.
F-Droid has a similar standing in publishing apk's for Android as what github is for control versioning and publishing the source code. It is set up in the "open source" way of thinking.
Perhaps you can take a look at it (if you don't know them already)? I would be very pleased to see CanZE also there in the future

01.11.2015 12:55@Marxx: I will pass that message to the team. I am not ducking, but I am personally less involved with publishing.
All: The braking implementation was completely off. The new implementation will hopefully make it in tonight's release. I have learned a lot of new information last week (from Renault) and since there is a lot of interest in the braking system I have written a technical blog post on it.

01.11.2015 13:28is it correct that bluetooth does not automatically shut down when you close the app, for the moment? if yes, please take this as a suggestion.

01.11.2015 13:42@p.hase: if you mean, will it switch off the phone's BT adaptor? No it won't and it shouldn't, maybe it is used for handsfree calling? But I suspect that is NOT what you meant, so, if you mean: will CanZE continue talking to the ELM while it is closed, the answer is: yes/no, meaning:
1. If the App is truly closed (using the return button in Android), the connection is torn down and will be reopened when the App is started again, including initialization of the ELM
2. If the App is not closed but moved to the background, i.e. by pushing the home button or opening another app through the status bar, the connection stays open (EDIT: wrong. As stated by fesch below, the BT links is torn down too). However, the fast querying done by the current screen is paused and will be resumed when CanZE is on top again.
Things do occasionally go wrong and you have to either kill CanZE (press and hold home and swipe away CanZE) or power cycle the ELM.

01.11.2015 17:37yes i meant to switch it off. if you dont use it, bluetooth eats a lot of battery. so leaf spy for example turns off bluetooth when you leave the app.

01.11.2015 17:45In that case, would you please be so kind to report it as an issue to
https://github.com/fesch/CanZE/issues ? I am not being lazy, but it's easier to track progress, it will be team-followed, and you will be getting emails when the status has changed. Thank you!
Re: Hacking into Zoe's CANbus
01.11.2015 18:14If the app is finished or pushed to background for any reason, the BT connection to the ELM is shutdown and closed, so another application could use it.
The BT feature of your phone is _NOT_ disabled. That is not what applications usually do ...

07.11.2015 22:48In tomorrow's release there is an option (in settings) to keep all communication running in the background, so that changes said behaviour.

08.11.2015 16:43Hello,
quick question about charging power
I'm carging with Original Renault Brick @ 10A so that is wrong:
And is'nt that also wrong ?
Or does the car mesure the cos phi = 0,8?
(Original Renault Brick @ 14A)

08.11.2015 16:49The first screenshot is obviously wrong. As you can see the car seems to report that the pilot to charger sends indicates 51kW
No wonder it concludes 3 phases. It should be somethign like 7 phases actually
In my experience, these mis-reports usually go way after a few rounds of queries.
The second screen is absolutely correct, and so are you. Cosphi deteriorates very badly at the low end of charging. When I put mine on 16A single phase, I actually get something like 3.2 kW.
Very nice SOH by the way.
