Phone: IPhone 12 Pro
Adapter: VGate Icar Pro BLE 4.0 DUAL

Tested the V1.0 of the App today.

Connection to my Vgate BLE Adapter works now better and takes only 2 tries to get from "Looking for adapter" to "StateInitializing" instead of 4.
Good improvement from previous versions. Refresh time of some Values could be faster.

Bug:
  • as mentioned by others, labeling Missing on Charge Graph in Dark Mode an Displayed DC Current seems to be too low
  • When Charging on a 3 Phase Wallbox, the Voltages and Currents of 1 Phase are still missing.

Feature Request:
  • Display SoCMax and SoC in kWh, if you can get it from Vehicle
  • Carplay integration:
Noticed that Music Playback in Carplay works fine, even with your App connected to Bluetooth Adapter and running in foreground. There are only a few Jitters when the App is in "StateInitalizing". At "StateReady" Music playback in Carplay works fine.
Would a Carplay integration for Bluetooth adapters be possible in a much later Version?
Would be a unique Feature for the App, to get the Data displayed on the Nav Screen.

>When Charging on a 3 Phase Wallbox, the Voltages and Currents of 1 Phase are still missing.
it seems to be capped by onboard charger and max. of 11 kW AC possible

@Orbit
>Charge Graph in Dark Mode
should be fixed starting from b11

Good news for today - new version with changes:
- v1.0 (11)
- Testing with Chart Axis labes to be always shown
and with realy visible colors
- "Consumed AC Power" added, with lose-to-battery %% detail
"Charging Power" is focused only on true-battery charging power
- Testing of "Grouping of pulling events for better UI responsiveness"
More dynamic data should be updated more frequently where
static data will be refreshed less often,
rules are valid after first data gathering
- WiFi UDP(ENET) adapters support is yet WIP
Apple's additional approval pending
important points to focus while testing: Still stable connection to adapter and better refresh time?

Also, thanks to the people donating and sharing feedbacks as well !
it does motivate to move development forward.

v1.0(11): Charging graph also works in dark mode. Consumed AC power/charging power also looks good (only did a short charging test).

Ref updating values: Battery current do no longer update in normal operation (idle/driving). If starting without charging, it is stuck at N/A. Battery power is then shown as 0.0, but should then be N/A as well. Battery current do update while charging, and if starting driving after charging that value will be stuck and give very incorrect battery power readouts. I do see the battery voltage change more often (in the mV range), than before.

I am re-working power/current/voltage data for better representation and more fine-tuned driving recuperation accounting.

I believe general refresh rates are improved,
single OBD call can take up to 1s in total processing, smart grouping and usage are extremely needed.

yet checking more usage cases, like driving , charding AC, DC etc

Connecting my MINI SE via VGATE WLAN iCar dongle seems to work much faster now.

Feature Request:
It would be great to have timestamped data snapshots, either stored locally or on iCloud (or other online storage). It would allow to see the stats over time, have a history, in data form (not just screen shots I now take).

I tried DC charging today, and there was no charging graph. Charging later at AC, shows the graph as normal.

Issues:
  • When switching on heating during AC charging, the heater can take all the AC power. Charging status then goes to "idle" and the graph stops updating. I would preferred that it rather showed a period with zero charge. In cold weather, the heater can even start to drain the main battery, in addition to taking all the AC power, thus draining the battery despite being connected to a charger.
  • Add heating power as an additional area on top of the charging power graph. In sum, these (+AC/DC loss during AC charging) should be equivalent to the power output of the charger.
  • If the app is put in the background, it will not resume collecting data when brought back to the foreground. I have to press the pause then play icon to get new data. I would also prefer that it collected data continuously, also when being in the background. Otherwise, it will be the only app that can be used while collecting a charging power graph.

that is true, just this versions need to confirm fast/optimized data gathering first...

@Orbit
I will check DC , thanks for info!

> I would preferred that it rather showed a period with zero charge.
hmm but good observations

>Add heating power as an additional area on top of the charging power graph
let me think about this.

>If the app is put in the background, it will not resume collecting data when brought back to the foreground.
there are some Apple restrictions here but I am already experimenting in this area of background,
Current "disable of lock/sleep" might be fast to implement but still, not much optimal solution as it looks...
sorry, just 2 hands :)

Hi Max,

thanks for adding me to the testflight team :)

It is working great on the Mini Cooper SE in combination with a Vgate iCar Pro BT4.0 dongle. All values seem plausible and I can confirm values such as VIN, odo, outside temp etc as accurate.

first suggestion has to do with the AVG/MIN/MAX values. I have quite severe OCD :) and that OCD tells me that the preferred order should be MIN/AVG/MAX so the values increase from left to right. But maybe that is just me. If possible the AVG value in the middle would be in bold text so it stands out a bit more.

second suggestion is maybe a bit of sensitive one :)
The app icon and name feature a BMW name and logo. And driving a (BMW) Mini Cooper Electric it is (again) triggering my OCD (LOL)
I don't think you can have an alternate name for the app but it is possible to have an alternate icon natively from the app. (see the code block below, which is a description from the apple developer website).

For the icon there is also another method, by using the shortcuts app, this only works from iOs 14.3 and up.
https://www.cnet.com/how-to/make-your-i ... me-screen/

I've changed the icon to a Yellow S on a black background (the yellow S is specific to the Mini Electric, the petrol Cooper S has a red S.

keep up the good work!

User-Selectable App Icons
For some apps, customization is a feature that evokes a personal connection and enhances the user experience. If it provides value in your app, you can let people select an alternate app icon from a set of predefined icons that are embedded within your app. For example, a sports app might offer icons for different teams or an app with light and dark modes might offer corresponding light and dark icons. Note that your app icon can only be changed at the user’s request and the system always provides the user with confirmation of such a change.
Provide visually consistent alternate icons in all necessary sizes. Like your primary app icon, each alternate app icon is delivered as a collection of related images that vary in size. When the user chooses an alternate icon, the appropriate sizes of that icon replace your primary app icon on the Home screen, in Spotlight, and elsewhere in the system. To ensure that alternate icons appear consistently throughout the system—the user shouldn't see one version of your icon on the Home screen and a completely different version in Settings, for example—provide them in the same sizes you provide for your primary app icon (with the exception of the App Store icon). See App Icon Sizes.
For developer guidance, see the setAlternateIconName method of UIApplication.
