Could one connect with the i907 once the car did shut down?
I do know that there are people out there securing their OBD (preventing car-theft) with Reed-switches so they can disconnect two data lines by placing a small magnet somewhere.

I was able to partially wake up the car and release the cable with the i907. Of course to do that, it had to be plugged in (D'uh :-) ) and I had to be inside the locked car pressing buttons.

Monitoring what was happing, I was later able though to replay the same traffic with a connected ELM and that could be done from outside the car if the ELM was plugged in and switched on.

The reed switch scenario seems to be aimed at avoiding people breaking into your car and then do nasty things through the connector. I have not been able (have not been trying!) to i.e. start the car. But the cable was released!

That's what I mean, you can avoid anyone to use any devices connected to the OBD port (by opening 2 wires) with such a reed switch.

I am very happy to say that today, the team member that is working very hard on the "App" succeeded in getting data from the car using only an Android device and a "proper" (KW902) dongle. This really brings the entire display stuff into the realm of cheap, consumer oriented hardware. The proof of concept I showed earlier in that video is now "App"-able.

I am very excited about this. Also, the international team effort is fun!

Hi, gutes Projekt!
Mich würde vor allem ein Datenlogger für die Ladevorgänge (Datum Start/Ende, Kilometerstand, Ladeposition, Stromstärke/Leistung, geladene Energie) und ein Nutzungs-Log/Fahrtenbuch mit tatsächlichem Kilometerstand und Geodäten interessieren. Wenn man dann noch ein "Tesla-ähnliches" Display für Tacho/Energieverbrauch machen könnte, wäre das spitze.
