I'm not sure what to believe, but this article clearly shows a Kia Soul charging at 69.1kW:
http://arcticroads.com/nyheter/opens-12 ... he-public/
They have limited the ChaDeMo-charging to 70kWh as that is the maximum for the standard, but can open up for more.

The battery can't handle maximum power all the time, so it will slow down when it get fuller, but I think maybe it is the ChaDeMo standard that is the bottleneck here and not the car itself. 90kW charging might at least be possible while recuperating. Could have been fun to log a proper charging session and also see how much charge we can get while breaking :)
It is from KIA Germany.
Best is you test it at that specific charger by your self!
We have a 100kW Chademo charger here, but I do not get close enough.

For the V0.42 I let other ones help too and test....or I am the onliest one?

Don't know. Seems to be only three downloads of v0.43.
Robert, in Canada, just received his OVMS. He plans to join me in developing OVMS, so he is testing for the first time now.
I post the same messages on www.mykiasoulev.com, but there hasn't been much response yet, other than from Robert.

There are very few people with OVMS and Kia Soul, at the moment, but that understandable.
Some people in the norwegian forums that say they probably will buy OVMS, but I don't know any who have ordered one yet.

Smile!
I can believe only three downloads of the 0.43....I can't find this version at all.

Hehe! I meant to write v0.42 :)

We aren't that many at the moment, so we can consider us pioneers ;)

In front: I am not a specialst - just learning and counting 1+1...

Maybe a little bit off-topic - but interesting...

In german flyer KIA says the maximum power for charging is 62 kW.
The same time they announce charging time at a 100 kW charger... so what is the secret?
I've been at the KIA Europe headquarter in Frankfurt where these two SIGNET 100 kW chargers are based behind a closed doors - only for registrated Soul EV users.

At low SOC (17%) I could see a charging voltage of 358,6V at a charging current of 175,6A = 62,97 kW.
02 - Laden bei KIA Motors Deutschland Zentrale Frankfurt - Leistung kurz nach Ladestart.jpg
It took me exactly 20:59 minutes to charge 19,8 kWh from SOC 13% to 84%.

The question is which maximum power the battery of the Soul EV really can handle at normal charging session from nearly empty to 83%.
I think more than 63 or 69 kW can be possible - if I remember that I´ve seen -81 kW at recuperation for a short time.
Is the car/battery able to handle this power long term at regular charging?

I think you are right, goev-no05, the actual bottleneck might bee the CHAdeMO-Standard and the plugs.

At an (in germany so called) "@express" charger from "e8energy" (origin manufacturer EVTEC, Switzerland) with standard equipment for 60 kW DC power we saw round about 54 kW at 67% SOC...
And the CEO was astonished how long the Soul EV can take this high power - until 70% SOC.

The DELTA-charger shown at "arctic roads" IS an "espresso & charge" charger from EVTEC, Switzerland.
Or called "@express" from german seller e8enery.

This chargers have been installed as a "world premiere" at a freeway station 80 km away from me:"Neue Superschnelllader @express an der Autobahn A7" and finally look a little bit different in mounting of charging-cables - as shown at homepages before.

The blue/white Soul EV on the second picture is mine - the third picture shows the announced charge level of 54 kW at 67% SOC with my car.

If you look at the CHAdeMO-plug of this station you will see - I think as usual - a certification for maximal current of 125 A.
With a voltage of 360 V and 125 A it would deliver "only" 45 kW.

Because the voltage is fixed in the range of nearly 360 - 400 V there must be a higher current.
It was this way at KIA headquarter in Frankfurt: 175 A.

But that´s not what the CHAdeMO-certification and the plugs are about...
It´s working - but without certification!?

So as shown with the "DELTA"-charger there will be more power possible.
Charging with 69 kW at 66% SOC the voltage will mayby be 385 V?
Then the current would be 179 A?
With a CHAdeMO plug certified at 125 A?

Again my question: How much power is the car/battery able to handle during long term at regular charging?
I think this question is really unanswered...

Doesn't it confirm what KIA say? 62kW max.

This is about 2C. I am sure you can charge 4C....the question is how long your battery will hold.
Another question is, can the air-condition handle this to cool down the cells at any time?
I am happy how it is and looking forward to have a durable battery because I like to keep my car for about 10 years (maybe a dream).

Yes, this is what KIA claims...
But there is no need of a 100.000 W charger... as announced in the flyer... why don't they write "62 kW max. charging power - at 62 kW needed time is: 25 minutes".

Also this 62 kW is out of CHAdeMO certification and more than plugs with 125 A certification should handle... officially...
I think that´s the reason why these 100 kW SIGNET-chargers are bases behind closed doors... and are the only 2 in whole europe...

"Nice to have", but NOT useful for anyone...

I agree, I´m also happy how it is - my regular charging works with 20 kW CHAdeMO 3 minutes away from my sofa, I´ve got no possibility to charge at home.
Sometimes I look to have a full charge at Typ 2 or Schuko/domestic plug.
And I´m happy to still gain 135 km range by 83% SOC at todays colder temperatures (10° C and less) and my driving habitudes with very much very short trips and often 6-8 days between charges...
At this constitutions and with heating I am still able to drive 120 km in real world...

Vielen Dank für die Informationen, Digitaldrucker :)

I'm very happy with even 62kW, but if they open up for even moreit is very welcomed. It will not only make you able to get where you want faster, but it will make the charging queue shorter.
I've been waiting 20-30 minutes for one guy who used the fast charger to fill up his car 100%. If he had moved his car over to the 22kW AC charger, he would have saved money and my time. It was hard to be polite when he finally came :D
